Elon, N.C. – Hofstra Men's Soccer takes its final road trip on Saturday, heading to Colonial Athletic Association foe Elon for the last game of the regular season. The match will be available via live stats and live video.
The Pride will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak after falling to Binghamton, 2-1, on Tuesday on Senior Night. Junior
Danny Elliott gave Hofstra a 1-0 lead in the first half, putting in a rebound from senior
Joseph Holland, but the Bearcats scored a pair of unanswered goals in the second half to take the win.
Elliott is now tied for the team scoring lead with six goals. Freshman
Luke Brown leads the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists.
The Pride heads into Saturday's conference finale having already clinched the top seed in the CAA Tournament. The Phoenix has also lost just one conference game and will be looking to secure second place and a bye into the conference semifinals.
Hofstra and Elon have met just twice before, with the Phoenix joining the Colonial Athletic Association in 2014. Hofstra has won both meetings, including a big 1-0 upset of the then-No. 10 Elon last season.
The Phoenix have had another strong season, entering Saturday's contest at 7-4-3 and 3-1-2 in conference play, outscoring its opponents 24-11 and posting seven shutouts. Elon's only conference blemish is a 3-2 loss to Delaware last weekend, while the Phoenix have posted draws with College of Charleston and Drexel and CAA wins over Drexel, Northeastern and William & Mary.
Junior Elijah Agu is tied for the conference lead with 11 goals. Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Jegier leads the league in goals-against average at .743.
Hofstra then has nearly two weeks to prepare for the CAA Semifinals, which will take place on Nov. 11 at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
