WBB: Hofstra Ends Road Swing At UNCW On Friday

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will conclude a three-game road swing with a rare 11:30 a.m. start time Friday at UNCW as the Pride takes on the Seahawks in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at Trask Coliseum.

Hofstra (11-3, 2-1 CAA) is one of six teams in the conference that has won two of the first three league games following a 62-58 road win at Charleston on Sunday. UNCW is 5-9 and 1-2 following its first league win with a 52-49 road win at Towson.

Live video will be available via Pride Productions courtesy of UNCW. Pride Productions will also feature free audio, and the can be heard locally on WRHU (88.7 FM).

Hofstra has won 11 of its first 14 games for the first time since 2011-12 and for just the fifth time since 1981-82. The Pride went over the .500 mark in CAA play in the last game thanks to a career-best effort from senior guard Asia Jackson, who scored a career-high 24 points off the bench.

Jackson knocked down a personal-best four three-pointers and went 8-for-8 from the line. She averaged almost a point-per-minute in racking up her third career 20-point game in 27 minutes and logged a block and a steal without committing a single turnover as Hofstra's bench out-scored Charleston's, 33-8.

Sophomore forward Ashunae Durant nearly logged a quiet double-double of eight points and eight rebounds to complement Jackson. Durant is the CAA's leading rebounder at 9.9 boards-per-game and has been the leader in Hofstra's league-leading rebounding defense.

Junior forward Anjie White continued to thrive in her role as a rim protector in tying a career high with four steals and posting three blocks. Fellow junior Sandra Dongmo provided a lift when White went to the bench as she added four points, four rebounds and a steal in 12 minutes.

Hofstra has won six of the last eight games but and three of the last four. UNCW snapped a three-game losing streak with the win at Towson. Jasmine Steele scored 16 points in that contest, more than doubling her season average of 7.4.

The Seahawks employ a small rotation featuring just eight regulars. Shatia Cole is the lone Seahawk averaging in double figures at 10.2 points per game despite starting just half of the team's 14 total contests.

Nagaiyyah Teague is contributing 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds. Jordan Henry is a near double-double threat every game in averaging identical 8.7 figures in both scoring and rebounding, with her 122 total boards the most on the team. She is the only UNCW player to crack triple digits on the glass.

UNCW forces more than 18 turnovers per game, giving the Seahawks a chance to stay in games despite averaging just 54.2 points.

Hofstra is 15-13 in the all-time series, including a split of last season's series and six of the last eight dating to the 2011-12 season.
