MSOC: Hofstra Takes On Drexel To Continue CAA Action

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will resume Colonial Athletic Association play when the Pride travels to Drexel for a 7 p.m. road match on Wednesday from Vidas Field.

Free live Pride Productions video is available via Drexel's feed and live statistics will also be offered.

The Pride, ranked 18th in the NSCAA national poll released Sept. 22, is 6-2 and 1-0 against the CAA. Hofstra will be looking to rebound from a 3-0 road loss at Dartmouth in which the Big Green broke a scoreless tie by scoring all three goals in the final six minutes of regulation.

Drexel is off to a 2-6-1 start but defeated defending CAA-champion James Madison on the road, 1-0, in the previous game. Ilai Shvika's 35th-minute goal off a corner kick was the difference.

Hofstra is 15-22-9 in the all-time series. The Pride won the regular season meeting at home last season, 2-1, on an 88th-minute penalty kick goal.

The series dates to 1962, making Drexel the most frequently played opponent in Hofstra's history. The Pride will be looking for the first official win at Drexel since 2011. Hofstra eliminated the Dragons in the 2012 CAA Championship semifinals on penalty kicks, which is recorded as a tie.

Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Jordan has kept Drexel in games this season and will carry a shutout streak of 258:36 into the contest. Jacob's goals-against-average is 0.47. Drexel has the second-most saves of any team in the CAA, posing 41 stops for a 4.56 per-game average. Only Charleston has more saves.

Hofstra junior midfielder Joseph Holland will look to drive Hofstra's offense and test Jordan and the Drexel defense. Holland is off to a great start, tallying four goals and four assists for 12 points through the first eight games. Holland trails only UNCW's Colin Bonner and Ben Fisher for the CAA lead. Holland's four goals are tied for third behind Bonner's league-leading six.

Sophomore forward Meshack Eshun Addy is enjoying a breakout season, notching four goals to quadruple his freshman output. Eshun Addy joins Holland as one of two Hofstra player to register double-digit points this season as the Tema, Ghana native has tallied four goals and two assists in eight games (seven starts).

The Pride will carry a RPI of 19 into the game. The rankings, which came out on Sept. 28, saw three CAA teams in the top-20. Elon paced the group at 11 and UNCW was 12.

Hofstra will continue the four-game homestand on Saturday by heading to William & Mary for a 7 p.m. matchup before taking on Duke on Monday, Oct. 5.
