MSOC: Nationally Ranked Hofstra Resumes Non-League Play At Dartmouth

Hempstead, N.Y. – Fresh off another move into the national top-25 poll, the NSCAA 18th-ranked Hofstra Pride will head to Dartmouth for a non-conference matchup on Saturday at 5 p.m. from Hanover, New Hampshire.

Live video and live statistics will be offered from the contest at Burnham Field.

Hofstra is 6-1 and is nationally ranked for the second time in three weeks following a 2-1 win over then-No. 24 UNCW in the team's previous game. The Pride earned the 19th ranking from Top Drawer Soccer heading into the weekend. Head Coach Richard Nuttall's team has only trailed in one out of the first seven games, which was a 2-0 loss to No. 21 American earlier this month.

Sophomore forward Meshack Eshun Addy is enjoying a breakout season and was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winner versus UNCW. The Tema, Ghana won his first career conference awards on the strength of his 65th minute strike that extended his goal output to four, tying him with junior midfielder Joseph Holland for the team lead.

On the back line, senior defender and team captain Daniel Grundei garnered recognition as one of College Soccer News' 11 National Team of the Week selections. Grundei scored his first goal of the season and his fourth since joining the team from transferring from Towson's defunct program before 2014. Grundei then helped a defensive unit limit the Seahawks to just 11 shots and one goal.

Senior midfielder Felix Schaefer played well in making just his second start of the year and senior Marius Flateboe, who was expected to start the season as a reserve, continued to provide a steady presence as a starting defender. Bolstered by senior goalkeeper Patric Pray's 0.71 goals-against-average and .857 percentage, Hofstra has conceded just five goals in 630 minutes.

Hofstra is 1-2 in the all-time series against Dartmouth, including a 2-1 home loss to the Big Green at home last season. The Pride will be playing at Dartmouth for the first time since 1998.
Dartmouth (2-3-1) will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak, including a 3-2 loss to No. 9 Washington. The Big Green has lost three of the last four games.

Seven different players have scored Dartmouth's seven goals in six games. Alexander Marsh has helped drive the attack by notching two assists. Eduvie Ikoba has a goal and an assist.
A goalkeeper platoon featuring James Hickok (1-1-0) and Stefan Cleveland (1-2-1) have combined for three shutouts. Hickok's goals-against-average is 0.47 in two starts.

Hofstra earned the third spot in the latest NSCAA regional rankings, moving up from sixth in the Midwest poll. The ratings surge has been bolstered by strong second half-play. The Pride is 5-0 when tied at halftime  and is out-scoring teams, 11-3, in the second half.
