WBB: Hofstra Ranked In Latest Mid Major Top-25 Poll

Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra Women's Basketball team earned a spot in the latest College Insider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll released today.

Hofstra is ranked 25th in the latest poll, moving into the list after upending nationally ranked James Madison on Sunday. Hofstra bested the 23rd ranked Dukes, 63-62, to extend its winning streak to five games. The Pride is 18-9 overall and 11-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play.

The one-point win over JMU was the second in program history against a nationally ranked foe. The Dukes were 14-0 in league play and had lost just twice in the first 25 games before four Pride players scored in double figures.

Hofstra and JMU are the two CAA teams to make the mid-major list, with JMU dropping to the fourth spot. The Pride earned 71 points in making the list for the first time all season. Princeton (25-0) was the top team with 771 points.

The Pride currently sits a half-game behind Drexel for second place in the CAA with two regular season games remaining. Hofstra will face Elon on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the home finale at the Mack Sports Complex before concluding the regular season on March 4 at UNCW.
