MSOC: #14 Hofstra Hosts Delaware In Saturday CAA Meeting

Hempstead, N.Y. – Fresh off its highest national ranking in 10 years, the first-place Hofstra Men's Soccer program will welcome Delaware to Hofstra Soccer Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m. in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup.

Hofstra, ranked 14th in the latest NSCAA national poll, is 8-3 overall and will put an undefeated league record on the line after starting 3-0. Delaware is 4-5-2 and 1-1-0 after defeating Charleston on Wednesday.

Free live video and audio is available via Pride Productions. Live statistics will also be available.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information. The first 250 fans through the gates will receive Hofstra Soccer t-shirts.

Hofstra rocketed up nine spots in the NSCAA national poll released on Oct. 6. Hofstra previous was ranked 23rd before posting CAA road wins at Drexel and William & Mary. Hofstra had been as high as 17th on Sept. 8. The Pride is also ranked 16th by Top Drawer Soccer.

Hofstra is in the NSCAA top-25 this season for the first time in almost 10 years. Before this year, the last time the Pride made the list was Nov. 15, 2005 when Hofstra earned the 13th ranking in the second-to-last poll of the season. Hofstra won the CAA that year and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

The Pride is out-scoring teams, 18-9, after halftime this season and will be returning to a venue that has been kind to the squad. Hofstra is 3-0 playing in front of the home fans, who will see sophomore forward Meshack Eshun Addy continue his quest for the CAA goal-scoring title. Eshun Addy's six goals is tied with UNCW's Colin Bonner for the league lead.

Junior midfielder Joseph Holland is right behind, posting five goals and seven assists for 17 points through 11 games. Holland leads the CAA in total shots (42) and his point total matches Bonner for the most in the conference.  Holland's assist total is ranked fifth in NCAA Division I and his point total is 17th.

Senior goalkeeper Patric Pray is also climbing up the national leaderboard. His 48 saves are the 14th-most and leads the conference. Pray's 15 career shutouts is one behind Greg Cumpstone for second-most on the team's all-time list.

Hofstra is 14-12-1 in the all-time series against Delaware. The Pride has lost the last two meetings in extra sessions, including a double-overtime road loss last season. Hofstra will be looking for a home win against the Blue Hens for the first time since 2008.

Delaware boasts the reigning CAA Player of the Year in forward Guillermo Delgado, who ranks in the league's top-10 in goals, points and points-per-game. Delgado's four goals and nine points are leading his team.

Saturday could see extensive end-to-end rushes. Hofstra and Delaware are tied for the league lead in shots at 142.  Delgado is averaging a CAA-best four shots per game while Holland is second at 3.82.
