MSOC: #14 Hofstra Looks To Stay Atop CAA In Wednesday Tilt Versus Northeastern

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will look to continue its best conference start in 18 years when the 14th-ranked Pride hosts Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic Association home matchup on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Free live video and audio is available via Pride Productions. Live statistics will also be available for the contest at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

The Pride, which holds its highest NSCAA rank since 2006, is off to a 9-3 start overall and is 4-0 to sit in sole possession of first place in the CAA. Hofstra has won the first four conference games for the first time as a member of the CAA. The last time a Hofstra squad won the first four conference games came in 1997 when the team went 9-0 in the regular season against the America East.

Northeastern will be looking to make up ground in the CAA standings and try to build on the team's first league win of the year following a 2-1 home victory over William & Mary on Saturday. The Huskies are 1-7-2 and 1-3 in CAA play. The Huskies played nationally ranked Elon to a one-goal game before falling, 2-1, on the road on Oct. 7. Six of the team's losses have come by a single goal.

Hofstra is 6-13-1 in the all-time series. The Pride will be looking for the first win in the series since 2007. The teams tied at Hofstra Soccer Stadium last year in playing to a scoreless draw.

Hofstra senior goalkeeper Patric Pray made five saves to power Hofstra to a 1-0 double-overtime win over Delaware in the last game. Pray made five saves to boost his league-leading save percentage to .815. In picking up his fifth shutout this season, Pray tied Greg Cumpstone for the second-most clean sheets in team history with 16.

Junior Harri Hawkins supported his netminder by contributing to a defensive effort that held the Blue Hens to just two on-target shots after halftime. Hawkins also scored his second goal of the season in the 109th minute off junior Joseph Holland's league-leading eighth assist for the game-winner. Sophomore forward Danny Elliot produced five of the team's 15 shots overall.

Northeastern is last in the CAA in shots, points and goals in having scored just seven times in 10 games. But the Huskies do boast a threat in Frantzdy Pierrot, who is averaging 1.12 points-per-game to crack the league's top-5 mark.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson's .789 save percentage is third in the league and trails only Charleston's Kevin Shields and Pray.

Hofstra is 4-0 at home this season and is 9-1 when scoring at least one goal.
