WBB: Hofstra Faces Northeastern In Thursday League Game

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will look to snap a losing skid and end on a road swing momentum when the Pride takes on Northeastern from the Cabot Center in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Boston.

Free live video courtesy of Northeastern will be available via Pride Productions, which will also feature free live audio.  Live statistics will also be available.

The Pride (12-7, 5-3 CAA) will be looking to break a two-game losing streak after falling to Drexel and William & Mary. Hofstra has still won five of the last eight games. Northeastern has lost three in a row as the Huskies have struggled to a 4-14 start and a 1-7 mark in CAA play.

Hofstra is 17-18 in the all-time series against Northeastern, including four consecutive victories dating to the 2013 CAA Tournament quarterfinals. The Pride posted a regular season sweep against the Huskies in 2013-14 and won in overtime, 85-83, at home on Jan. 6

Sophomore forward Elo Edeferioka has provided a Hofstra with a chance to win in logging back-to-back double-doubles. She scored 13 points and grabbed half of her 10 total rebounds on the offensive glass against the Tribe at Kaplan Arena.

Freshman forward Ashunae Durant nearly recorded a double-double in the same game as Edeferioka for the third time this season when she scored a game-high 15 points and nine rebounds. Durant drew a Hofstra season high 11 free throw attempts and made seven while contributing two assists, two steals and a block. The four-time CAA Rookie of the Week has scored in double figures in three consecutive games.

Junior point guard Darius Faulk logged 38 minutes and scored 10 points in the team's last week, which was her third game of double-figure scoring for the Pride since transferring from West Virginia before the season. Faulk is also Hofstra's leader in assists with five per contest.

Northeastern's lone conference win came at home versus UNCW on Jan. 16. Since then, the Huskies dropped three straight road league games in falling at Charleston, Towson and Elon. The Hofstra games marks the first time the team will return to the Cabot Center since defeating the Seahawks.

The Huskies are 3-3 at home overall. Three players are also averaging in double figures, led by A'lece Mark's 13.8 points-per-game figure. Samantha DeFreese (13.7) is close behind and Tiffany Montagne (12.2) have provided the Huskies with scoring options. Francesca Sally is the team's leading rebounder with 7.5 boards-per-game.
