Hofstra Announces Six Transfer Portal Additions

Hempstead, NY - Coming off a historic run at the 2026 CAA Championship, Hofstra women's basketball aims to continue the momentum with the announcement of their 2026-27 roster. Hofstra Head Women's Basketball Coach Danielle Santos Atkinson announced the addition of six student-athletes from the transfer portal.
 
 "Our roster was intentionally constructed to ensure immediate impact, versatility, experience, and talent throughout the roster," said Santos Atkinson, entering her ninth season as head coach of the Pride in 2026-27. "We are very excited to add proven winners, competitors, and selfless teammates."
 
The Pride's six transfers are Ceylone Brooks (5-9; Guard; Columbus, Ohio), Kelian Cedano (5-10; Guard; Boston, Massachusetts), Paloma Garcia (5-6; Guard; Corozal, Puerto Rico), Felicia Jacobs (6-3; Forward; London, England); Angel Jones (5-5; Guard; Woodbridge, Virginia); and Comari Mitchell (5-8; Guard; Richmond, Virginia).
 
Brooks joins the Pride after two seasons at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a standout shooter for the Falcons notching 65 three-pointers made for her career. Over the course of her career, she averaged 6.3 points all while shooting 33% from the field. In her sophomore campaign, she helped the team win the Citrus Conference Championship.  
 
"We are so excited to welcome Ceylone to the Pride Family," Santos Atkinson said. "She is a versatile shooter that has a quick release. She is the ultimate competitor who will bring elite shooting along with leadership that will help take our program to another level."
 
Cedano joins the Pride after a two-year stint at Temple. With the Owls, Cedano appeared in 55 games and shot 37.1% from the floor. She set career-highs in points and rebounds against Florida Atlantic, scoring 16 points on 7-11 shooting and 50% from downtown, and pulling down six rebounds. Cedano attended Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut, where she averaged 15.5 points per game, and she was ranked the No. 5 shooting guard in the Prep Girls Hoops New England Rankings in her senior year. She was also recognized as the team MVP her junior year. 
 
 "Cedano is a great addition to our team," Santos Atkinson added. She is a dynamic scoring guard who brings great size to our backcourt. She fits our system and has the versatility to play and guard multiple positions on the floor. She's a competitor and is a hungry to make an impact."
 
Garcia joins the program after a three-year standout career at Merrimack College. A three-year starter at the point guard position for the Warriors, her junior campaign was one for the books where she averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. She helped lead her team to the Women's NIT in 2025-26 while being named the 2026 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and earning a spot on the All-MAAC Defensive Team. She set a single-season conference-record of 80 steals and broke Merrimack's single-game steals record with nine against Canisius. In additional, Garcia was a member of the Puerto Rican U16 National Team.
 
 "We are thrilled to welcome Paloma to our basketball family," Santos Atkinson said. "Paloma strengthens our backcourt with her experience, leadership, defensive mindset and scoring ability. She brings toughness, versatility at the point guard position, plus a high basketball IQ that fits perfectly with everything that makes Hofstra special."
 
Jacobs arrives in Hempstead after spending two years at Temple. With the Owls, Jacobs played in all 32 games this past season. During the 2025-26 campaign, Jacobs recorded her career-high in points with 10 against Villanova, and recorded a career-high nine rebounds against Florida Atlantic. Jacobs was a stand-out high school player for the City of London Academy of Southwark in London, England. In her senior season, Jacobs averaged 11.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. Additionally, she helped her team win the London U18 Cup Final and was awarded MVP honors.  Jacobs also represented Great Britain as team captain of the U18 National Team during the 2023 European Championships.
 
"Felcia is an athletic, high motor forward that can play physical in the paint," Santos Atkinson said. "She's a great rebounder and runs hard in transition. She's a competitor and wants to win!"
 
Jones spent the 2025-2026 season at Pittsburgh, where she averaged 9.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assist per game while shooting 45.8% from the floor. She crossed the 1,000-point threshold with a 12-point outing against Le Moyne 18. Prior to spending last season with the Panthers, Jones excelled in two seasons at Coppin State, earning First Team All-MEAC and BOXTOROW HBCU First Team All-America honors in 2024-25 after averaging 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. Jones also picked up Second Team All-MEAC recognition in 2023-24 after a season that saw her average 10.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for the Eagles. 
 
"Angel will be an immediate offensive threat," Santos Atkinson added. "She is a ferocious competitor whose experience, three-level scoring ability and leadership will be pivotal to our program this year. We are so excited she is a part of our Pride Family"
 
Mitchell joins the Pride after two seasons at Jacksonville. In her junior campaign, Mitchell helped her team win the 2026 Atlantic Sun Basketball Championship and qualify for the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while connecting on 39.8% of her field goal attempts. Over the course of her career with the Dolphins, Mitchell scored double figures in 13 games, including a career-high of 19 points against Stetson
 
 "We are excited to welcome Comari to our team," Santos Atkinson added. "She is a dynamic combo guard who is elite in the midrange and aggressive attacking the rim. She has a great feel for the game, loves to push in transition, and will be a pesky on ball defender in the full court. She has championship experience that will benefit the pride."
 
The addition of six accomplished transfers strengthens an already competitive roster and provides Hofstra with depth and playmaking on both ends of the floor. The Pride enters the 2026-27 season poised to build on the momentum of last year's historic CAA Championship run.
