Newark, DE - John Tiedemann pitched eight innings of shutout
ball, allowing just three hits as Hofstra won its fourth consecutive game, 4-0,
over Delaware Saturday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. The win clinched the
series for the Pride and moved Hofstra into second place in the CAA standings.
Hofstra improves to 24-17 on the year, 13-7 in the CAA.
Delaware's loss drops it under .500 at 20-21 overall and 11-9 in the CAA. The
shutout was Hofstra's third of the season.
The Pride scored three times in the first off Blue Hens
starter Corey Crispell. Dalton Rouleau led off the game and reached on an
error. Danny Poma then walked. Matt Ford grounded out to first, moving Rouleau
and Poma up a base. Jared Hammer drove both runners home with a double to
right. Three batters later, Bryan Verbitsky delivered a run-scoring single to
left that plated Hammer with the third run of the inning.
Hofstra added a run in the ninth as Poma doubled, his 24th
