Seniors Khalilah Smith and Shelbylynn McBride enjoyed ?œSenior Night?ť Thursday as they led George Mason to a 73-61 victory over Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball game Thursday night at the Patriot Center.

George Mason won its fourth straight game (its longest streak of the season) to improve to 14-11, 11-7 in the CAA, while Hofstra dropped its seventh straight contest to fall to 7-20, 4-14 in the CAA.

George Mason jumped out to an early 13-6 lead as Derevjanik scored six points, but Hofstra got four points each from Agugua and Scott in a 12-2 run that gave the Pride an 18-15 advantage with 5:34 left in the first half. The teams battled back and forth, with four ties the rest of the half, before Hofstra took a 30-28 lead at intermission.

Scott opened the second stanza with a layup to give the Pride its biggest lead at four points, but Mason responded with an 18-6 run to take the lead for good as junior Susan Otim converted two free throws for a 46-38 advantage with 13:09 remaining. Hofstra cut the margin to 51-47 on a basket by Agugua, but the Patriots quickly pushed it back to an eight-point lead and maintained at least that margin the rest of the way.

Hofstra will next be in action at the CAA Tournament next week at Old Dominion University.
