SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Sophomore right fielder Garrett Weir (Brooklyn, NY) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two runs batted in to lead Seton Hall to a 14-2 win over Hofstra on Monday at Owen T. Carroll Field.

Seton Hall, which has won six of its last seven, improves to 8-11.  Hofstra falls to 4-15.

With the score knotted at 1-1, Weir put Seton Hall ahead with a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth that scored senior designated hitter Todd Crawford and freshman first baseman Tim Pahuta.  Weir scored on a two-out double by freshman center fielder Ed McDonnell to put the Pirates up 4-1.

Seton Hall added three runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Crawford belted a two-run home run to right field ? his sixth of the season ? and Pahuta later scored on a wild pitch to increase the Pirates' lead to 7-1.

Hofstra held an early 1-0 lead when second baseman Brian Ariss scored on a two-out single to center by catcher Thomas Brown in the top of the third.  The Pride added a run in the top of the sixth as first baseman Brian Hillmann scored on an infield hit by second baseman Sam Eferstein to cut the Seton Hall lead to 7-2.

Seton Hall broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on three hits and two Hofstra errors.  Sophomore shortstop Santiago Chi and sophomore center fielder Matt Cuttruff each had a two-run single in the inning.

Sophomore left-hander Chris Noonan picked up the win for Seton Hall, improving to 2-3.  Noonan scattered seven hits over six innings.  He gave up two runs (one earned) and struck out four while walking one.  Hofstra starter Adam Docar (1-3) went four innings and gave up four hits and four runs, but just one earned.

Nine different players had hits for Seton Hall.  Chi (2-for-4, 2 RBI) was the only player other than Weir with more than one hit.  Brian Ariss and Brian Hillmann had two hits each for Hofstra.
