Hofstra Opens CAA Play on Friday

Hempstead, NY – The start of the Hofstra field hockey team's Coastal Athletic Association schedule will take place on Friday, September 18, when the Pride welcomes Northeastern to Cindy Lewis Stadium. After hosting the Huskies, Hofstra will head to Philadelphia for a non-conference contest against Temple on Sunday, September 20.
 
The start time for Friday's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege, and Sunday's contest is set to begin at 12 p.m. and available on ESPN+. Hofstra dropped both contests last weekend to fall to 2-3 on the year. Cara Zapach scored the first goal of her career and Luci Hollister made eight saves in Friday's 2-1 overtime defeat to Quinnipiac, while Sarah Smalley recorded her fourth goal of the season on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Providence.
 
Picked to finish fourth in the CAA Preseason Poll, Northeastern won 1-0 over UC Davis on Friday before losing 4-1 on Sunday to Stanford to put the Huskies at 1-4 entering Friday. Camille Armaganian leads the team with three goals.
 
Temple lost to Monmouth 4-2 on Friday before picking up a 5-0 win over Rider on Sunday to improve to 3-3. Lucia Magro's five goals and 11 points leads the Owls in both categories. Temple will face Georgetown on Friday before hosting the Pride on Sunday.
 
Hofstra is 7-23 all-time against Northeastern, with the Huskies winning the last six meetings against the Pride since the 2020-21 spring season. Meanwhile, Temple holds a 10-2 all-time record against Hofstra. Sunday will be the first meeting between the Pride and the Owls since 2021.
