Hempstead, NY – After her second multi-goal performance of the season, including scoring the game-winning overtime goal, Malena Bertone has been selected as the Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.
 
Bertone won the first CAA Rookie of the Week of the season on August 31with two goals scored in a 2-1 season-opening win for the Hofstra field hockey team over Rider.
 
The first-year defender from Santa Fe, Argentina scored a pair of goals in the Pride's 5-4 overtime win over Wagner this past Friday. Bertone opened the scoring in the first quarter from the top of the shooting arc, while her second and final goal of the afternoon came on a penalty corner shot that bounced past the Wagner goalkeeper and in for the winner in overtime.
 
Bertone and the Pride are back in action with two games this week, facing Quinnipiac on Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting Providence from Cindy Lewis Stadium at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
