Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team picked up a pair of weekly awards from the conference office today as Nikki Mennella was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Charli Joyce earned the CAA Rookie of the Week Award, it was announced this afternoon.

For Mennella it is her third weekly award of the season from the CAA as she previously earned the award on March 30 and February 16. This is the first weekly award for Joyce and the second rookie award this season for the Pride as Shannon Steck received the honor on March 9.

Nikki Mennella added another career-defining performance to a career filled with them as she was spectacular in the Pride's win over Monmouth on Saturday that moved the team to 5-0 in CAA play and 9-5 overall.

Mennella posted a career-high-tying 11 points on seven goals and four assists, while also adding five draw controls. Mennella came up huge when the team needed her the most as she scored five of her goals after halftime as the teams were tied at eight at the intermission.

The 11 points tied Mennella's career high, ironically set at Monmouth last season.

In addition, the 11 points are a program record and the fourth-most points in a game in NCAA Division I this season. The seven goals are tied for the 11th-most in a game this season in Division I. The 11 points are also the fourth-most in a game in CAA history.

The hat trick was Mennella's seventh this season and 28th of her career and Saturday marked the fifth time this season and 11th time in her career that Mennella has had six or more goals in a game.

Mennella had five or more points in a game for the eighth time this season and the 26th time in her career and extended her goal-scoring streak to 23 consecutive games and her point-scoring streak to 29 consecutive contests.

Joyce had a career day for the Pride as she was a key force in the 22-11 win over Monmouth.

Joyce totaled five points on four goals and one assist in the contest. Both the goal and point totals marked new career highs for the rookie.

The hat trick was the second of her freshman campaign.

Her first goal of the game got Hofstra on the board in the opening minutes, and she would add one in the second quarter and a pair in the pivotal third quarter.
