Hofstra Opens February with Home Contest Against Monmouth

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra women's basketball team opens a two-game homestand from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex with a showdown against Monmouth on Friday, February 6.
 
Tip-off against the Hawks is scheduled for 6 p.m. FloCollege and MSGSN will carry the video broadcasts of Friday's game, while WRHU 88.7FM will provide an audio-only broadcast, and there will be live statistics as well. A 52-49 loss at Stony Brook this past Friday sees Hofstra enter its clash with Monmouth at 3-17 overall and 1-8 in CAA action. Micaela Carter scored a career-high 18 points against the Seawolves on seven field goals and four three-pointers – both also career-highs – while Sandra Magolico posted nine rebounds and eight points in the road loss.
 
Predicted to finish eighth in the CAA Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, Monmouth is currently 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the CAA after losses to Drexel and Stony Brook this past weekend. Gigi Gamble leads the Hawks in scoring with 14.5 points per game, followed by All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention selection Divine Dibula with 13.1 points per game. Dibula and Alexis Davis are currently tied for the team-lead in rebounding with 7.0 per contest.
 
Monmouth leads the all-time series against Hofstra with a 10-7 record. The Pride swept the season series over the Hawks last season, winning 75-67 on January 3 in New Jersey before a 57-54 home win on February 23.
