Hempstead, NY – The Long Island Rivalry will be renewed once again in 2026 as the Hofstra women's basketball team will make the 36 mile bus ride from Hempstead to Stony Brook to take on the Seawolves on Friday, January 30.
Tip-off against Stony Brook is set for 6:31 p.m. from Stony Brook Arena. The game will air on FloCollege, with an audio-only broadcast on 88.7FM courtesy of WRHU, and live statistics will also be available. Hofstra fell to 3-16 overall and 1-7 in the Coastal Athletic Association with a 55-37 loss to defending conference champions William & Mary on Monday.
Alarice Gooden led the Pride with eight points in the contest, and
Sandra Magolico finished with 11 rebounds for her fifth consecutive game with double-digit rebounds and seventh CAA game with 11 or more boards.
Stony Brook enters Friday 10-10 overall and 5-2 in the CAA after a 49-41 road defeat against Drexel. Janay Brantley and Diaka Berete lead the team in scoring with 11.7 and 10.3 points per game respectively, and Caitlin Frost is the top rebounder for the Seawolves with an average of 7.9 per contest.
Stony Brook won the previous meeting 61-44 from inside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on January 16. The Seawolves lead the all-time series 11-8 over Hofstra.
