Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Head Softball Coach
Susan Cassidy-Lyke has announced the addition of
Alexandra Burns to the Hofstra softball program as the Director of Softball Operations.
"I am excited to have Alexandra join our staff," said Cassidy-Lyke, entering her first season in charge of the Pride. "She has a high softball IQ and loves the game. She will assist in several areas, including working with the outfield, a position she played at a high level as a student-athlete. I coached Alexandra at Molloy and have always appreciated her work ethic and dedication."
Burns was the Director of Operations for the New York Rise from May 2024 through December of that same year. With the Rise, Burns directed day-to-day operations for the organization, including game-day planning, facility management, and coordinating team travel. She also managed relationships between the team and the league, as well as sponsors and external partners, and she developed and managed budgets for operations, logistics, and events.
"I am very excited to begin my position here at Hofstra as the Director of Softball Operations," said Burns. "It was a pleasure playing under Coach Cassidy-Lyke at Molloy for six years, and I am fortunate that I now get to work alongside her again and the coaching staff at Hofstra. I look forward to contributing behind the scenes, supporting the student-athletes, and helping build on the success and culture Coach Cassidy-Lyke has already instilled."
In addition to her time with the Rise, Burns brings a wealth of experience from the financial sector as a client service associate with Morgan Stanley since January 2025. She served as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring proper account maintenance and service excellence. Additionally, Burns was a wealth management intern with Morgan Stanley from February 2024 until December of that year.
A native of Baldwin, New York, Burns is a double graduate of Molloy College, receiving her bachelor's degree in business management before earning her MBA in marketing with a healthcare administration post-baccalaureate certificate. She played for Cassidy-Lyke and the Lions for six seasons from 2019 until 2024, appearing in 210 career games with 208 starts and recording 212 hits in 659 at-bats for a career .322 batting average with 134 RBIs. Burns was a two-time All-ECC First Team selection in 2022 and 2024, a second team honoree in 2023, and she was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year in 2019.
