Hempstead, NY – Following a stretch of six out of the last seven games on the road, the Hofstra women's basketball team looks to enjoy a period of seven out of the next eight games on Long Island, beginning with a resumption of The Long Island Rivalry against Stony Brook on Friday, January 16.
Tip-off against the Seawolves is scheduled for 6 p.m. from inside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Friday's contest will air simultaneously on FloCollege and MSGSN of MSG Networks, and there will be live statistics as well. Hofstra dropped to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in the Coastal Athletic Association with a 67-38 road loss to Drexel on Sunday.
Sandra Magolico finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, while
Nevaeh Brown tallied nine points off the bench.
Picked 12th in the CAA Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, Stony Brook earned wins over Drexel and North Carolina A&T this past weekend to improve to 8-9 overall and 3-1 in the CAA. Janay Brantley averages 11.7 points per game to lead the Seawolves in scoring, followed by Diaka Berete with 9.8 points per contest.
Stony Brook leads the all-time series 10-8, but Hofstra snapped a nine-game losing streak against Stony Brook with a 73-70 overtime win on March 6 of last season.
