Philadelphia, PA – Despite a double-double performance from
Sandra Magolico, the Hofstra women's basketball team dropped a 67-38 result on the road to Drexel in Coastal Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon.
The Pride falls to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in CAA play, and Drexel improves to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in league competition.
Magolico finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, plus she finished with a block and an assist against the Dragons.
Nevaeh Brown was the next-highest scorer for the Pride with nine points, and
Ema Karim was the next-highest rebounder with five.
Drexel scored 12 of the first 13 points of the afternoon to take a lead they would never relinquish. Brown ended Drexel's run with a jumper at 4:56 to get the deficit under 10 points before the difference went back to 11.
Alarice Gooden converted a layup with 1:04 left in the quarter, but a Drexel free throw made it a 10-point lead for the hosts after the first 10 minutes of the contest.
Drexel led the rest of the game by double digits as the Dragons outscored Hofstra 19-14 in the second quarter, 19-11 in the third quarter, and 14-8 in the fourth before the final buzzer sounded.
Deja Evans led the Dragons with 20 points, followed by Amaris Baker with 14.
Hofstra returns to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex for its next two contests, starting on Friday against Stony Brook at 6 p.m.
NOTES:
-Magolico has had double-digit rebounds in three of Hofstra's four CAA contests, putting her at 12.0 rebounds per game against conference opponents.
-Hofstra doubled Drexel's offensive rebounds, 16-8.
-Hofstra is now 32-51 all-time against Drexel.
