Oceanside, NY - Hofstra defeated Adelphi, 309-317, in the One Day at the Bay competition to open their fall season. The Pride placed three golfers in the top-five with
Kaylie Porter finishing in second place on Friday from The Golf Club at Middle Bay in Oceanside, New York. Hofstra shot a team score of 309 (+21) to take the team title over Adelphi.
"I'm really proud of how the team battled and worked through mistakes on the course today," said Hofstra Head Coach
Matthew Ragovin. "We're excited for what's to come this semester."
Porter shot a 75 (+3) while
Mari Rodriguez placed third with a 76 (+4) and
Regina Cantu Chavez shot a 77 (+5) to place fourth.
Sadie Anderson finished in seventh placed out of the 18 player field with a 81 (+9),
Natalie Moody shot a 84 (+12) to finish ninth,
Ava Sparacio tied for 11th at 86 (+14),
Victoria Minicucci was 16th at 96 (+24), and
Elena Godeni shot a 101 (+29) and was 17th. Adelphi's Nikola Truhlarova shot a 74 (+2) to take the individual title.
"Today was a very fun start to the season," said junior
Kaylie Porter who led the Pride in Friday's competition. "It meant a lot to see my teammates also play very well today."
Hofstra returns to action for the Boston College Red Bandana Invitational on September 22-23 in Canton, Massachusetts.
