Hofstra Looks To Stay Unbeaten In CAA Play Saturday Versus Monmouth

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men's soccer team will look to stay unbeaten in CAA play when it returns to the pitch Saturday night against Monmouth. Kick-off at Captains Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Hofstra enters the contest 4-3-0 overall and 2-0 in the CAA. The Pride is coming off a 2-1 loss at No. 9 Vermont this past Tuesday. The defending National Champions used a late second half goal to snap a 1-1 tie. Samuel Francou had tied the game at 1 with his first collegiate goal midway through the second half. Gino Cervoni made a career-high five saves.

Laurie Goddard leads the team with six goals and an assist, while Daniel Burko has chipped in with four goals. Cervoni has a 3-1 mark, 12 saves, and a 0.75 goals against average. 

Monmouth comes to town with a 3-3-1 record overall and a 1-1-1 mark in the CAA. The Hawks picked up a 2-1 win over La Salle in their last game this past Tuesday. Jakob Friedman had a goal and an assist, while Patrick Osiecki had a goal. Herman Johnsen stopped six La Salle shots in goal. 

Hofstra has dominated the series between the teams, holding a 7-1-1 advantage. The Hawks did pick up the win last season, 2-1, in West Long Branch, New Jersey. 

Following Saturday's game, Hofstra will remain home for a Tuesday night contest against Columbia.
