Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Softball Coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke has announced today the addition of Carla Campagna to her coaching staff as the associate head coach for the Pride.

"Carla's years of experience and success at her previous institutions will be a valued asset," Cassidy-Lyke said. "She has always been able to recruit very accomplished student-athletes that have excelled both athletically and academically. I'm excited for her to work with Coach Amodeo and myself, as we work together to build an atmosphere that breeds continued success at Hofstra."

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Hofstra softball coaching staff and become part of a program with such a proud tradition of excellence, hard work, and championship culture," Campagna said. "It's definite a full-circle moment for me to be coaching alongside the woman who has coached and mentored me since I was 14 and played a huge role in shaping me as both a player and as a person. I'm honored to help carry that legacy forward with the next generation of student-athletes at Hofstra."

Campagna comes to Bill Edwards Stadium after a season as the head coach of the Iona softball program in 2025. Under Campagna, the Gaels posted its highest win total since 2012 with 29 victories, including 18 wins in MAAC competition, and the team advanced to the eighth game of the MAAC Championship. Three Iona softball student-athletes received All-MAAC honors last season, and five were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team.

Prior to her time in New Rochelle, Campagna was the head softball coach at Adelphi, where she went 193-81 in a six-season stint with multiple conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in charge of the Panthers. Campagna was named the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year in 2022 as she guided the Panthers to a 47-15 record, a Northeast-10 title, and the third NCAA Division II National Championship in program history, and she also was named the Coach of the Year in 2024. She coached 25 Panther student-athletes to postseason honors, including five NFCA All-Americans.

She was also an assistant coach at LIU-Post from 2013 until she left for the head coach position at Adelphi in 2018. While on staff, Campagna and the Pioneers advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2014, made five NCAA Division II East Regional appearances, and won East Coast Conference titles in 2014 and 2018.

Campagna's playing career was as equally prolific as her coaching career. The New York native enjoyed a four-year career at Molloy under Hofstra's current head coach Cassidy-Lyke from 2009 until 2012. Campagna led the team in home runs all four seasons with the Lions, and she led the team in RBIs, total bases, and walks in three out of four seasons. The former first baseman is the program's all-time leader for home runs (44), RBIs (207), total bases (442), putouts (1147), and fielding percentage (.994), and she ranks in the top five in walks (76, 2nd), slugging percentage (.631, 4th), and hits (256, 4th). She garnered 13 postseason awards and honors, including two Player of the Year awards and was named to the Daktronics All-America Third Team in 2012. In 2019, Campagna was inducted into the Molloy Athletics Hall of Fame.

Campagna and her husband, Jon, have one daughter, Serafina.
