Hempstead, NY – The 2025 season of Hofstra field hockey is set to begin on Friday, August 29, with a road trip to UAlbany at 3 p.m., before the first home game of the season against Sacred Heart on Sunday, August 31, at noon from Cindy Lewis Stadium. Friday's season-opener will be streamed on AmericaEast.tv, and Sunday's contest will be streamed on FloCollege, and live statistics will be available for both games.
Hofstra was picked to tie for fourth in the Preseason CAA Coaches Poll after a 4-15 mark in 2024 with a 2-4 conference record. Head Coach
Hillary Fitts enters her second year on the Hofstra sideline with 18 returnees from the previous season, including 2024 All-CAA Second Team and 2025 Preseason All-CAA honoree

Teresa Karoff is back after leading the Pride with five goals and three assists in 2024, and Preseason All-CAA selection

UAlbany won the America East regular season title with a 15-4 overall and a 6-0 in league play. The Great Danes, ranked #15 in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, fell in the America East Tournament to eventual champions Vermont. UAlbany was picked third in the America East Preseason Coaches Poll, and Sophia Schoonmaker was picked to the Preseason All-Conference team after recording two goals and two assists last season.
Sacred Heart went 6-12 overall and 2-6 in the Northeast Conference last season. The Pioneers were picked to finish fifth in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll, with Emma Brayford returning as the team's leading scorer from last season with nine points on three goals and three assists.
UAlbany leads the all-time series against Hofstra with a 12-1 mark, while Hofstra holds a 21-0 record against Sacred Heart.
