Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team was honored for its academic success as the Pride earned a 2024-25 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. The ABCA recognized nearly 750 member college and high school programs from across the country with the award, which highlights programs coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2024-25 academic year.
The Pride compiled an overall team GPA of 3.37 for the 2024-25 academic year. It is the ninth consecutive season that Hofstra has earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. Hofstra was one of five CAA schools to earn the honor, joining Delaware, Elon, Northeastern, and UNCW. Hofstra also won a CAA Team Academic Excellence Award and saw three student-athletes - Michael Brown, Sean Hamilton, and Luke Masiuk - named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
