Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University junior infielder Dylan Palmer was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft. He was the 323rd pick overall and became the 15th Hofstra baseball student-athlete to be selected in the draft and the first since Jimmy Joyce in 2021.

"We are so excited for Dylan and his family," said Hofstra Head Baseball Coach Frank Catalanotto. "This is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication and, while we will miss Dylan, we are thrilled that he will have this opportunity at the next level in the Pirates organization."

A three-time All-CAA selection and a 2024 ABCA All-Northeast Region pick, Palmer batted .400 in 2025 with a school record seven triples. He added 13 doubles, one home run, 32 RBIs, 47 runs scored and 32 stolen bases. He led the team in batting, hits (88), runs, and stolen bases. In the CAA, Palmer ranked first in triples, second in batting and hits, and third in stolen bases. He was the first Pride player to bat .400 in a full season since Danny Poma posted a .430 average in 2012.

For his career, Palmer holds the school record for triples with 12. He owns a .386 batting average (fourth all-time) with 247 hits (third all-time), 141 runs (seventh all-time), and 82 stolen bases (second all-time).
