Hofstra Hosts Defending CAA Champs UNCW In Weekend Series

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team will host defending Coastal Athletic Association champion UNCW in a three-game series this weekend starting with a doubleheader Friday at 12 p.m. Weather permitting, the teams will conclude the series at 1 p.m. Saturday. If not, game three will be played Sunday at 12 p.m.

The games will be streamed live on FloCollege. Live statistics will be available for all games as well, with links above or on the baseball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (11-18, 2-4) is coming off a 4-3 win over Columbia Wednesday. The Pride staged a four-run rally in the fifth inning to erase a 3-0 deficit with CJ Griggs driving in the final two runs. The Pride bullpen shined, sossing seven innings of one-run, three-hit baseball.  

The Seahawks (14-15, 2-4) dropped a 10-6 decision in 10 innings to East Carolina in their lone midweek game this past Tuesday. UNCW had rallied to tie the game at six in the eighth inning. Mac Gillespie and Ryker Galaska each homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Seahawks. 

Hofstra is 18-43 all-time against UNCW. The Seahawks won two of three games against the Pride last season in Wilmington.

Following the series against UNCW, Hofstra returns to action Tuesday at home against FDU. First pitch at University Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
