Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will take on #15 Towson in the CAA Championship semifinals on Thursday.
The Pride and the Tigers will meet up at 4 p.m. from Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University. The entire tournament will take place at Towson with Saturday's championship game starting at 3:30 p.m. The other semifinal will see #16 Fairfield take on Drexel at 7 p.m.
Having faced nationally-ranked Towson last Saturday in the regular season finale, this will mark the first time since April 27 (Massachusetts - #20) and May 3 (Massachusetts - #16) of 2018 that Hofstra will face the same opponent in back-to-back games with the opponent nationally ranked in both contests.
The game will air on LacrosseTV and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available. Links to all, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's lacrosse schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
The Pride will be making its 14th appearance in the CAA Championship and the first since advancing to the title game in 2021. Hofstra, which joined the CAA for men's lacrosse in 2002, has advanced to the CAA Championship Game five times and captured the CAA title in 2008 and 2006. The Pride's championship game appearances have occurred in 2021, 2014, 2008, 2006, and 2003.
Hofstra finished the regular season with an 8-6 overall record and a 4-3 conference mark. In the Pride's most recent outing, also against Towson, Hofstra dropped a close 9-7 decision despite four points (3 G, 1 A) from
Rory Jones and 12 saves from
Shea Kennedy.
Towson brings a 9-5 overall record and finished the regular season with a 7-0 CAA record after Saturday's win over Hofstra. Ronan Fitzpatrick had three points on two goals and an assist, while Sam Morin tallied a pair of goals for the Tigers.
One of the Pride's oldest rivals, Hofstra holds a 29-27 lead in the all-time series with Towson. The Tigers have won the last three encounters, including the narrow 9-7 win last Saturday, but prior to that the teams alternated victories in the six previous meetings. The series began during the 1961 season.
