Hofstra Hosts Stony Brook In CAA Clash This Weekend

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team will begin a four-game homestand with a Coastal Athletic Association series against Stony Brook beginning Friday, April 18. First pitch from University Field is scheduled for 2 p.m. The series continues Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes Sunday with a 12 p.m. start. All three games will be streamed live on FloCollege. Hofstra (13-24, 3-9 CAA) is coming off a comeback victory at St. John's on Tuesday. The Pride rallied for six runs in the eighth inning. Luke Masiuk had a two-RBI double, while Michael Brown added an RBI single, Sean Lane a sacrifice fly, and Michael Craig a two-run single that gave the Pride the lead. Dylan Palmer went 2-for-5 with two triples and is now tied for the all-time lead in program history with 10 triples. His performance also extended his hitting streak to 20 games. 

Hofstra relievers Grady LacourciereDanny Kelleher, John McCready, Trent Jenks, and Tanner Sanderoff combined for six innings and allowed one run on four hits. Jenks earned the win, while Sanderoff recorded the final four outs for his second save. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Pride and ended a seven-game win streak for the Red Storm.

Stony Brook (17-16, 5-7 CAA), is coming off of a series win against Campbell. The Seawolves have won five of their last six match-ups and have won four of their last five CAA games. Nico Azpilcueta leads the team with 12 home runs on the season.
 
Hofstra is 20-20 all-time against Stony Brook. The teams have split the last six meetings with Hofstra taking two of three on the road last season. 

Following the Pride's series against the Seawolves, Hofstra will host NJIT for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday, April 23.
