Hofstra Plays At Rutgers, Hosts Columbia In Midweek Action

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team will play a pair of midweek non-conference games beginning Tuesday with a road tilt at Rutgers followed by a home game Wednesday versus Columbia. First pitch at Rutgers is scheduled for 6 p.m., while Wednesday's home game will begin at 3 p.m.

The Rutgers game will be streamed live on the BIG+ Network, while the Columbia game will air on FloCollege. Live statistics will be available for both with links above or on the baseball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (10-17) is coming off a tough three-game series at William & Mary that saw the Tribe win all three games by one run in their final turn at-bat. The Pride offense put up 27 runs in the series with Tyler Cox hitting three home runs in the three games including two in Sunday's finale. Dylan Palmer reached a personal milestone Sunday as he recorded his 200th career hit. He is the 12th player in program history to record 200 hits.

Rutgers enters play Tuesday with a record of 13-15. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 2-1 series win at home against Washington and have won three of their last four outings. Hofstra is 7-10 all-time against the Scarlet Knights. The teams last met in 2023 with Rutgers posting a 5-0 win in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Columbia is 10-12 on the season and is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Princeton. The Lions have won six of their last seven games. Hofstra is 7-12-1 against Columbia. The Lions won last season, 12-8, in New York City.

Nick Gallello will start for the Pride against Rutgers. He will be opposed by Zach Gleason. Wednesday's pitching matchup is to be determined.

Following the midweek games, Hofstra returns to CAA play when it welcome the defending champions UNCW to University Field for a three-game series starting Friday at 2 p.m.
