#22 Hofstra Hosts Stony Brook Sunday In CAA Semifinals

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's soccer team, 22nd-ranked and seeded first, will host Stony Brook in the CAA North Division Semifinal Sunday at 2 p.m. at Captains Field. Hofstra will be looking to advance to the CAA Championship match for the sixth consecutive season as it looks for a fifth straight conference title.

The match will be streamed live on FloCollege with live statistics and an audio-only broadcast from WRHU available as well. Links for all can be found above or on the men's soccer schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

The Pride (12-4) had an opening round bye and is currently riding a nation's best eight-match winning streak. Hofstra is playing in its eighth consecutive CAA Semifinal, a remarkable run of sustained excellence. The Pride are led by the high-scoring tandem of CAA Player and Midfielder of the Year Laurie Goddard (10 goals, 5 assists) and forward Daniel Burko (11 goals, 4 assists). The Pride defense, led by Pietro Santi, Gabriel Pacheco, Thengill Orrason, and Jan Ziewiec, has allowed just 42 shots on goal all season and has allowed just eight over the past five games.

Stony Brook (8-4-5) is on a hot streak of its own as the second-seeded Seawolves have won four in a row entering Sunday. The Seawolves defeated third-seeded Monmouth, 2-0, in Thursday's quarterfinal matchup behind second half goals from Finlay Oliver and Alex Fleury and a career-high eight saves from Heidar Hermannsson.

This will be the third meeting this season between the Pride and Seawolves with Hofstra winning the first two, 3-0 at home on Sept. 13 and 3-2 on the road on October 11. Overall, Hofstra holds a 21-12-7 advantage in the all-time series.

The winner of Sunday's game will face the winner of the CAA South Division Semifinal between No. 1 Elon and No. 2 Campbell in the championship match. Should Hofstra advance, it will host the final on Saturday, November 15 at 7 p.m.
