Top 25 Clash Set As No. 22 Hofstra Hosts No. 14 Elon Saturday

Hempstead, NY - A battle between two top 25 teams will take place Saturday when No. 22 Hofstra hosts No. 14 Elon in a Coastal Athletic Association clash. Kickoff from Hofstra Soccer Stadium is set for 2 p.m. The game will serve as Hofstra's Alumni Day and there will also be the dedication of Captains Field at halftime.

Saturday's game will stream live on FloFC and will also be available for free on the FloFC YouTube page as the CAA Live-To-Social Game of the Week. Live statistics and an audio-only broadcast will also be available with links for all listed above or on the men's soccer schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra enters the game with a 7-1-1 overall record and a 2-1-0 mark in conference play. The Pride is coming off a 3-0 victory at Loyola Maryland Tuesday night behind goals from Teddy Baker, Laurie Goddard, and Eoin Farrell, and a smothering defensive effort that allowed just three shots on goal.

Elon is undefeated thus far at 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in league action. The Phoenix last played on Sept. 21 in a 2-1 victory over Stony Brook. Scott Vatne and Charlie Kitch scored first half goals for Elon and Tomasz Wroblewski made three saves.

Hofstra has controlled the all-time series against the Phoenix, posting a 9-1-1 record. The Pride has won two consecutive meetings, including a 3-0 victory last season on the road. Hofstra also defeated Elon in the finals of the 2022 CAA Championship.

At halftime of Saturday's game, there will be a ceremony to recognize the renaming of Hofstra Soccer Stadium to Captains Field. Through the leadership of the Healy and Dempster families, Captains Field honors Hofstra soccer captains past, present, and future.

Following Saturday's game, Hofstra will have a week off before returning to action at Drexel on October 5 at 1 p.m.
