Raleigh, NC / Queens, NY - The Hofstra men's outdoor track and field team competed at North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays on Thursday and Saturday, and The Big Hurt, hosted by St. John's on Saturday.
In North Carolina,
Abraham Longosiwa raced for the Pride in the 10,000m and finished 29th in 28:59. Longosiwa's time makes Hofstra one of twelve other programs in the NCAA to have one runner under 29:00 in the 10,000m since 2021. On Saturday, Hofstra field athlete
Nile Love placed 9th with a 7.07m mark in the long jump.
At The Big Hurt, hosted by St. John's, the Pride had athletes compete in the pole vault, 2000m steeplechase, 1500m, 100m dash, 400m, 800m and 200m dash. Hofstra had six top 5 finishes on Saturday and nine top 10 finishes.
Brian Beck finished first with an event record time of 6:38.64 in the 2000m steeplechase, while
Trevor Zappulla finished first in the 1500m race with an event record time of 4:11.99.
Brendan Capodanno and
Aiden Willey finished within the top 5 in the 1500m race. Capodanno was 3rd with a time of 4:18.38, while Willey had a 5th place finish with a time of 4:27.76.
Alec Padron and
Nayan Chatterjee finished within the top-10 in the 100m dash. Padron placed 4th with a time of 11.31, while Chatterjee was 10th with a time of 11.57.
Adam Gordon finished 15th in 12.10 seconds, while
Vis Haripal was 28th in 12.89 seconds, and
Greg Franzetti finished 32nd with a time of 14.94.
Sameer Grewal finished the 400m race with a time of 55.90 to take 10th place.
Zachary Kohner took 7th place in the 800m with a time of 2:29.18, while
Cade Jaipaul finished 18th in the 200m dash in 25.29 seconds.
Adam Gordon finished 4th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.75m.
The Pride are back in action on Saturday, April 6, for the NY Metro Championship in Randall's Island, New York.
