Hempstead, NY – The Coastal Athletic Association announced today its postseason awards and all-conference teams this afternoon, and four members of the Hofstra field hockey team received All-CAA honors.
Pieke Roos was named to the All-CAA First Team, while
Tara McNally and
Jamie Mc Millan collected All-CAA Second Team honors, and
Isabella Tassara was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team. Roos and McNally pick up their second consecutive first and second team honors, respectively, and this is the first CAA postseason honor for Mc Millan since she was named to the all-rookie team in 2022.
A junior goalkeeper from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Roos had another solid year betweek the posts for the Pride, recording 117 saves in 18 starts with a .736 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.48. Roos finished the season ranked 12th in the country with 6.50 saves per game, and she totaled 10 or more saves in a game three times this past season, including a season-high of 17 coming against American.
A graduate midfielder from Marmora, New Jersey, McNally earned herself a second consecutive All-CAA honor after scoring six points on a goal and four assists in 19 games. Her four assists leads the team, while she ties with
Jaime Lewis for the second-most points on the Hofstra roster. McNally's goal came against Yale to send the game to overtime, while she picked up assists against Central Michigan, LIU, William & Mary, and Towson.
Mc Millan led all field players on the Hofstra roster with 1,009 minutes played at defense, and the German defender posted five points on two goals and an assist, starting all 19 games in her junior season. Mc Millan scored important goals for the Pride against Central Michigan and Towson, while she tallied an assist against Northeastern. In addition to her offensive contributions, Mc Millan ended the year ranked ninth in the country with four defensive saves.
A freshman midfielder from San Diego, California, Tessara played in 10 games and scored one goal in just 90 minutes. Her goal scored against LIU ended up being the game-winner as the Pride held on for a 3-2 victory over the Sharks.
In addition to announcing the All-CAA teams, the conference announced its major award winners for the 2024 season. Drexel saw Valentine Van Hellemont win CAA Player of the Year, Pien Elsen take home CAA Defender of the Year, and Denise Zelenak earned CAA Coach of the Year honors, while CAA Rookie of the Year went to Milla Frye of Monmouth.
