No. 14/No. 8 Hofstra Looks To Extend Winning Streak At Drexel Saturday

| By:
Hempstead, NY - The No. 14/No. 8 Hofstra men's soccer team returns to the pitch Saturday and will look to extend their winning streak to three games against Coastal Athletic Association rival Drexel. Kickoff at Vidas Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on FloFC with an audio-only broadcast on the Hofstra Alternative Web Channel (HAWC). Live statistics will also be provided. Links for all can be found above or on the men's soccer schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (8-1-1, 3-1 CAA) climbed eight spots to No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and jumped 11 spots to No. 8 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll following wins over Loyola Maryland and then-No. 14 Elon last week. The No. 8 position is the Pride's first-ever top 10 ranking. Lennon Gill was the offensive spark for the Pride with both goals against Elon and an assist at Loyola, while the defense and goalkeeper Filippo Dadone were strong, allowing just one goal and six shots on goal over the two games.

Drexel enters Saturday with a record of 5-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the CAA. The Dragons are coming off a 5-0 win at UMBC this past Tuesday and are also undefeated at home with a 3-0 mark. Dominick Backstein had a goal and two assists Tuesday and leads the team with six goals and 14 points. Alessandro Capogna made four saves in goal for Drexel.

Hofstra is 23-28-12 all-time in the series against Drexel and is undefeated over the last 13 meetings (9-0-4). Last season, Hofstra won in Hempstead, 1-0, behind a first half goal from Ryan Carmichael.

Saturday's game marks the first of back-to-back games in the City of Brotherly Love as Hofstra returns Tuesday evening for a game against No, 25/No. 19 Penn.
