Hofstra Competitive in 2023 Season Opener

Brookville, NY - Hofstra freshman Jamie Cartnal led the Pride Men's Cross Country to a fifth-place team finish at the 8K 2023 LIU Fall Festival at LIU's campus in Brookville, NY. 

Cartnal clocked a time of 28:14.46 to place 44th. Sophomore Brian Beck was Hofstra's second finisher, placing 45th in 28:14.57 while freshman Brendan Capodanno placed third for the Pride with the same time as Beck, to place 46th. Freshman William Thu finished 47th in 28:15.95 and senior Aiden Willey completed the Hofstra line-up, placing 48th in 28:20.34.

Hofstra finished fifth in the sixteen-team field with 170 points. Central Connecticut State University won the team title with 25 points. Rutgers was second with 52 points and Marist was third with 109 points. Wagner came in fourth with 124 points and Scared Heart placed sixth with 174 points.

The Pride will return to action on Friday, September 15 to host the Hofstra Invitational in Hempstead, NY. The men's 5K race will begin at 9:30 a.m.
