San Diego, CA - The Hofstra men's lacrosse program had a strong showing at the World Championships as four members of the Pride lacrosse family were part of the gold-medal winning Team USA, while a pair of alums also earned spots in the top 10 of the final standings.

Michael Gongas, alum and former assistant coach Joe Amplo, and former head coach John Danowski were all on staff of Team USA and helped lead the team to the title. The United States defeated Canada, 10-7, on Saturday in the championship game.
Bryne gave it everything he had in the title tilt, helping his team to the silver medal, as he tallied four points on a team-high three goals and one assist. He led Canada with 22 points on 12 goals and 10 assists in the seven games during the championship.
Pall and Team Israel finished seventh in the tournament with an 8-7 overtime victory over Jamaica in the seventh place game on Friday. He tallied two goals in six games played during the tournament.
Tierney completed his 17th season as head coach in 2023. In his 17 years at the helm, Tierney has led the Pride to 132 victories.
Gongas just concluded his fourth season on the sidelines with the Pride. He is a 2007 graduate of Adelphi University.
Amplo graduated from Hofstra in 1999 and Danowski coached the Pride from 1986-2006. He was inducted into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame last year. Amplo is currently the head coach at Navy, while Danowski is the head coach at Duke.
Byrne was a member of the Hofstra men's lacrosse team in 2016 and 2017 and was a USILA Third Team All-American and the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 while finishing his Hofstra career with 111 points on 71 goals and 40 assists in 29 games.
Pall graduated from Hofstra in 2012. He was a member of the Pride in both 2011 and 2012 and totaled 15 ground balls in 21 career games at Hofstra.
