Hofstra Hosts UNCW This Weekend; Schedule Adjusted Due To Weather

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team returns home following a five-game road trip to host CAA-leading UNCW Friday and Sunday at University Field. The series schedule has been altered due to rain with the team playing a doubleheader Friday at 11:30 a.m. and a single game Sunday at Noon. All games will be streamed live on FloBaseball with live statistics available as well.

Hofstra (19-22, 9-12 CAA) is on a two-game winning streak following victories at LIU Tuesday and Manhattan Wednesday. The Pride will be looking to continue their fine play at home, where they are 13-3. Dylan Palmer continues to lead the Pride with a .349 average and 17 stolen bases. Kevin Bruggeman is batting .336 with 17 doubles, five home runs, and 29 RBIs, while Steve Harrington is hitting .298 with five home runs and 27 RBIs. Mark Faello and Brad Camarda lead the pitching staff with four wins, while Michael O'Hanlon has five saves. 

UNCW comes to town with a record of 24-15 overall and 13-4 in the CAA. The Seahawks are coming off an 18-2 loss at No. 25 North Carolina. Jac Croom leads UNCW in batting with a .380 average and has 43 runs scored. John Newton is batting .339 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs. Tanner Thach leads the team with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs. Jacob Shafer paces the pitching staff with a 6-2 record and a 3.88 ERA, and has added 41 strikeouts. Zane Taylor has a 4-2 mark and a 4.35 ERA. Brett Banks had four saves and a 2.49 ERA in 18 appearances.

Game 1: Brad Camarda (4-2) vs. Jacob Shafer (6-2)
Game 2: Mark Faello (4-5) vs. Zane Taylor (4-2)
Game 3: Tristan Nemjo (2-1) vs. Ryan Calvert (0-0)

Hofstra is 16-40 all-time against UNCW. The teams split four games last season with Hofstra winning one game in the series at UNCW (5-2) and then in the CAA Championship (4-3) in 10 innings.

Following the series against the Seahawks, Hofstra is idle until a weekend series at Monmouth beginning next Friday.
