Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team begins the 2023 season this Saturday when it hosts Long Island. 

Opening draw control is scheduled for 11 a.m. 

Tickets can be purchased at HofstraTickets.com, by calling (516) HOF-TIXX, or by stopping by the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex during normal business hours. 

The game will be broadcast on FloSports and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics can be found on this page and on the women's lacrosse schedule page at GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra won nine games a season ago and advanced to the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals. The Pride returns two of its top three scorers from last season with Taylor Mennella (38G, 16 A) and Kerry Walser (22G, 4A) back to lead the way offensively. Jess Smith anchors the defense for the Pride as she started all 17 games last season and made 162 saves. 

The Sharks won six games in 2022. 

Hofstra and Long Island are meeting for the second-ever time in the sport of women's lacrosse. The programs also met in the 2022 season opener with the Pride capturing an 8-5 win over the Sharks.
