Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team gets its 2023 season underway on Sunday when it travels to Merrimack.
Opening face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Duane Stadium.
There will be ESPN+ live video and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available. Links to both can be found on this page and on the men's lacrosse schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra won six games in 2022 and will look to improve on that number in 2023. The Pride returns three of its top four point scorers from a season ago, including
Gerard Kane, who had a team-best 38 points.
Rory Jones is also back and joins Kane as returning 20-goal scorers. In total, of the Pride's 10 players who had 10 or more points in 2022, eight of them are back in 2023. The Pride also welcomes back
Mac Gates in net. Gates played nearly every minute in goal for the Pride a season ago and tallied 180 saves in the process.
Merrimack also won six games last season.
This is the second-ever meeting between Hofstra and Merrimack in men's lacrosse. The Pride earned an 8-7 victory over the Warriors in last year's season opener.
