Hempstead, NY – Senior guard
Sorelle Ineza of the Hofstra women's basketball team has been named to the CSC Academic All-District® Team, in an announcement by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon. The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Ineza becomes just the sixth CSC Academic All-District® selection in program history, and she is Hofstra women's basketball's first Academic All-District honoree since
JaKayla Brown and
Jaylen Hines were named All-District in 2021.
A senior from Longequil, Quebec, Canada, Ineza holds 3.53 grade point average as a mass media studies major. In the midst of a seven-game streak of consecutive games with 10+ points scored, Ineza is averaging 9.0 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game in 25 appearances and 15 starts for the Pride in 2022-23. She scored a career-high 21 points twice this season – against Delaware on December 30, and again on February 9 against Towson – and assisted on the game-winning three-pointer by teammate
Brandy Thomas against Towson.
For her career, Ineza has appeared in 75 games in a Hofstra uniform with 54 starts, and she is averaging 7.6 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game. She was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team for the 2019-20 season.
Ineza is currently the Media Relations Coordinator for the Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and she has been the SAAC team representative since 2021. She was also a member of The Colonel E. David Woycik, Jr. (Ret) Esq. Pride Leadership Academic for the class of 2021-22, and she took part in the WSF/NBC Sports Group mentoring program.
Academic All-District® honorees now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® selections will be announced in mid-March.
