Van Houten Earns All-CAA Postseason Honors

Hempstead, NY - In a release by the Coastal Athletic Association Friday morning, Hofstra men's cross country runner Zach Van Houten has earned postseason recognition and been named a CAA Men's Cross Country All-CAA Honoree. Van Houten earned All-CAA honors by finishing in third place with a personal record time of 24:15.9 at the CAA Championship in Mechanicsburg, Virginia. 

A junior distance runner from East Meadow, New York, Van Houten recorded multiple personal best times in his three races this season. Van Houten led the Pride at the Battle in Beantown on September 29, hosted by Boston College, with a 25th place finish in the 8K race. He completed the course in a personal record time of 24:36.7. 

Entering the postseason, Van Houten ran at the 2023 CAA Championships in Mechanicsburg, Virginia, and broke the tape at his new personal record time of 24:15.9 for a third place finish. At the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship, Van Houten ran his final race of the cross country season and finished 30th with a time of 30:17.9. 

Northeastern's Benjamin Godish was named the CAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, the third straight runner to earn the accolade from Northeastern. Stony Brook head coach Andy Ronan earned his second consecutive CAA Coach of the Year accolade after guiding the Seawolves to a league-high 6 All-CAA honors and four runners finishing within the top 10.
