Carmichael And Goldthorp Invited To MLS College Showcase

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University men's soccer student-athletes Ryan Carmichael and Eliot Goldthorp have been invited to the Major League Soccer adidas MLS College Showcase. The two are among 44 players that will take place from December 6 through 9 in Phoenix, Arizona. The four-day, closed door event will give technical staff from every MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2024 presented by adidas, which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 19 and feature an expanded eligible player pool. 

Carmichael, led the Pride and the Coastal Athletic Association in scoring in 2023 with 17 goals and five assists for 39 points. The 17 goals rank second in the nation. He was a First Team All-Atlantic Region and All-CAA pick, and was an All-CAA Championship selection. Carmichael finished his career ranked second all-time at Hofstra in goals (46) and points (110).

Goldthorp, the 2023 CAA Player of the Year, recorded eight goals and a program-record 15 assists for 31 points this past season. The nation's leader in assists, Goldthorp was also a First Team All-Atlantic Region and All-CAA selection, as well as an All-CAA Championship pick. In his two seasons at Hofstra, Goldthorp recorded 25 goals and 21 assists for 71 points in 43 games.

Hofstra was 14-3-5 in 2023, winning the CAA Championship for the third consecutive season and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Championship as the No. 14 seed.
