Love Breaks School Record in Long Jump as Pride Begin Indoor Season

Staten Island, NY / Boston, MA - Nile Love of Hofstra's men's indoor track team finished in the top 5 of the long jump and broke a school record at the Youree Spence-Garcia meet on Saturday, hosted by St. John's at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. 

Love finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.94m (22' 9.25") on his final attempt, finishing 0.1 meters behind Amari Campbell of St. Peter's who took first. Love broke the Hofstra school record he had previously set the day prior at 6.67m. He is currently ranked third among Coastal Athletic Association track and field student athletes. Joining him in the event was Greg Franzetti, who recorded a jump of 5.87m on Friday and a jump of 5.60m on Saturday. 

At the FastTrack Season Opener, Alec Padron finished 6th in the 60m dash, with a time of 7.37, and he was joined by teammates Nayan Chatterjee (9th, 7.42), and Vis Haripal (25th, 7.88).  Cade Jaipaul ran the 400m in 55.75 to finish 48th. Zachary Kohner ran the 800m in 2:29.98. In the 5000m, Daniel Torrillo finished in fourth place with a time of 15:16.64, while Brian Beck finished just behind Torrillo in sixth at 15:29.14. Adam Gordon finished 18th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.55m (11' 7.75"), and James Watterson finished 32nd with a mark of 8.40m (27' 6.75").

At the Sharon Colyear-Danville meet hosted by Boston University, Abraham Longosiwa ran the 3000m in 8:16.67 to place 66th. His time ranks the Kenyan runner first in the CAA currently. Michael Silveri competed in the 500m run in Boston and placed 35th with a time of 14:43.03. Silveri is currently ranked fourth in the CAA for his time.

Nayan Chatterjee placed 24th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.30, at St. John's Youree Spence-Garcia meet on Saturday afternoon. Alec Padron (7.37), Adam Gordon (7.58), Jamie Cartnal (9.54), Aiden Willey (9.95), and Brian Beck (16.04) competed alongside Chatterjee in the 60m dash. Vis Haripal ran the 200m in 24.74, while Cade Jaipaul ran it in 25.28. Zachary Kohner ran the 500m in 1:26.76 to place 27th. Sameer Grewal placed 12th in the 1000m with a time of 2:43.14. In the 3000m, Brendan Capodanno placed 6th with a time of 9:26.96. James Watterson finished 26th with a personal best shot put mark of 8.83m (28' 11.75").

The Pride are back in action on Friday, December 8, at the Wagner College Shootout, hosted by Wagner at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
