Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University senior forward Ryan Carmichael and junior midfielder Eliot Goldthorp were selected in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft this evening. Carmichael was a first round pick, 24th overall, of Inter Miami CF, while Goldthorp was chosen by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the second round (45th overall). The pair are the fifth and sixth Hofstra men's soccer student-athletes to be chosen in the MLS Draft, joining Gary Flood (2007), Michael Todd (2007), Joseph Holland (2017), and Sean Nealis (2019).

Carmichael (Armagh, Northern Ireland) was a Second Team All-American this past season, and was a three-time All-Atlantic Region First Team selection. He led the Pride and the CAA in scoring in 2023 with 17 goals and five assists for 39 points. The 17 goals and 39 points ranked second in the nation. He was a First Team All-CAA pick and was an All-CAA Championship selection this season as well. Carmichael, who was the 2022 CAA Player of the Year and a three-time first team all-conference pick, finished his career ranked second all-time at Hofstra in goals (46) and points (110).

Goldthorp (Leeds, United Kingdom), a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and the 2023 Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Year, was a United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team selection and was the first Hofstra men's soccer player to earn first team accolades. A Second Team All-American in 2022, he recorded eight goals and a program-record 15 assists for 31 points in 2023. The nation's leader in assists, Goldthorp was a First Team All-Atlantic Region and All-CAA selection, as well as an All-CAA Championship pick for the second consecutive season. In his two seasons at Hofstra, Goldthorp recorded 25 goals and 21 assists for 71 points in 43 games. He is also the first two-time All-American in program history.

Hofstra was 14-3-5 in 2023, winning the CAA Championship for the third consecutive season and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Championship as the No. 14 seed.
