Hofstra Hosts Yale In NCAA Second Round Sunday Night

Hempstead, NY - Seeded for the first time in program history, the No. 14 Hofstra University men's soccer team will host Yale in the second round of the NCAA Championship Sunday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+ with live statistics and an audio only broadcast also available. Tickets are available by visiting HofstraTickets.com. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium Box Office beginning one hour before game time. Prices are $8 for adults, $6 for students with ID cards, $6 for children 12 and under, and free for children under 2 with a ticketed adult.

Hofstra, the three time reigning CAA Champions, earned a first round bye and will be hosting a second round contest for the first time. The Pride enters the game with a 13-3-4 record and are riding a four-game winning streak. Hofstra defeated Monmouth in overtime to claim the CAA title with Eliot Goldthorp netting the game winner on a free kick in the first 10-minute extra session.

No stranger to postseason games, the Pride is playing in their eighth NCAA Tournament and their third consecutive. Hofstra is 5-7 all-time in NCAA play and is 3-1 at home.

Yale, the champions of the Ivy League, enter Sunday with a record of 11-5-3 and is coming off a 1-0 victory at Bryant in the first round Thursday night. Max Rogers won the game for the Bulldogs with a goal from midfield in the 89th minute.

Hofstra and Yale have met five times before with the series knotted at 2-2-1. The teams have not met since 2010 with the Pride posting a 1-0 victory.

The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NCAA third round and face the winner of the No. 3 North Carolina-Memphis matchup.
