Hofstra currently sits at 3-5 overall after this past weekend's set of games. The Pride came away with a 1-0 win at home over LIU on September 16, followed by a 1-0 defeat on the road to 10th-ranked Syracuse on September 18. Samantha Spera scored the winning goal for Hofstra 81 seconds into the start against the Sharks, while Merlijn van der Vegt made seven saves in a strong showing by the Pride against the Orange.

Cami Larsson continues to lead the team with nine points on four goals and one assist, while Teresa Karoff is right on her heels with two goals and four assists for eight points. Adrianna Losiak dished out the assist on Spera's goal this past Friday, putting her at six points on the year with two goals and two assists. In seven starts between the pipes, van der Vegt has been one of the top goalkeepers in the Colonial Athletic Association; their 1.03 Goals Against Average tops the conference and ranks 11th in the nation, and their .833 save percentage ranks second in the CAA and sixth in Division I.

Sacred Heart enters Friday's fixture with a 0-6 record following a 5-1 defeat to Lehigh on Sunday. Emma Brayford leads the Pioneers with three goals on the year, and Mira Poelzer has tallied four points on one goal and two assists for the team.

Hofstra holds an all-time record of 19-0 versus Sacred Heart, including a 2-0 win on the road over the Pioneers during the 2021 season.

Following Friday's contest, Hofstra will host Northeastern (1-6) on September 30 at 3 p.m. to open CAA play, followed by a home non-conference contest against Bryant (4-4) on October 2 at 1 p.m.
