Hofstra Opens CAA Play At Stony Brook Saturday, Hosts LIU Tuesday

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men's soccer team will play its next two games against local rivals as the Pride opens Colonial Athletic Association play Saturday at Stony Brook (2 p.m.) before hosting LIU Tuesday night (7 p.m.) at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

Hofstra (1-1) and Stony Brook (1-1) will meet for the first time as CAA foes at 2 p.m. Saturday. Hofstra is 19-11-6 all-time against the Seawolves and has won three of the last four meetings. Last season, the Pride came away with a 1-0 victory at Stony Brook on Stefan Mason's first half penalty kick goal. Wessel Speel had two saves in goal.

Hofstra is coming off a 2-0 loss to Rhode Island this past Monday night, while the Seawolves enter the game off a 4-1 win over Saint Peter's the same night.

Tuesday's game against LIU will feature postgame fireworks. The Pride is 8-7 all-time against LIU and posted a 1-0 win last season on the road. Ryan Carmichael had the Pride's lone goal while Speel had five saves in the win. LIU is 2-0 on the season with a game against Fordham this weekend. The Sharks have wins over Stony Brook and Iona.

Following Tuesday's game, the Pride will be back on the road Saturday, September 10 for a road game at CAA rival Monmouth.
