Hempstead, NY - Former member of the Hofstra field hockey program and Hofstra University graduate
Ming Doherty has been announced by Head Field Hockey Coach
Courtney Veinotte as the new assistant coach for the 2022 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ming back to our program in this new role," said Veinotte. "Ming is a wonderful leader, and she understands our culture and desire for growth. She will play an essential role with player development, on and off the field."
Doherty rejoins the Pride in a coaching role following a four-year playing career at Hofstra from 2018-21. Playing as a forward and a midfielder, Doherty appeared in 42 games during her career and made 10 starts, scoring one goal as a sophomore in 2019. She represented Hofstra on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad three times (2019, 2020, 2021), and she was the field hockey representative on the Hofstra Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2020-21 academic year.
"I am thrilled that I have the opportunity to continue to push this program to excel, both on and off the field," Doherty said. "In my time as a student-athlete, Coach Veinotte created a team culture that emphasizes growth, trust, and relentlessness. I'm excited to step into this role and continue to implement these core values."
Doherty graduated from Hofstra in May 2022 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. She is the second new addition to the Hofstra coaching staff this season, joining
Caitlin Bennett, who was named an assistant coach this past June.
