Hempstead, NY – Two members of the Hofstra field hockey team –
Cami Larsson and
Lieke Gorsse – have been named to the Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association Team, and the Pride was picked to finish sixth in a vote of the seven CAA head coaches, in an announcement by the conference office today.
A four-time All-CAA Second Team selection, this marks the third time in Larsson's career that she has been named Preseason All-CAA. The fifth-year senior from Cordoba, Argentina posted 10 points on four goals and two assists last season, with two goals coming against conference opponents.
A returning sophomore from Goes, The Netherlands, Gorsse was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2021 after putting up three goals and two assists for eight points as a freshman. She was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on August 31 after scoring a goal and recording an assist against Wagner.
After finishing last year with a record of 7-11, Hofstra was slated to finish sixth with nine points, eight points behind fifth-place Drexel. Delaware, CAA champions for three consecutive seasons, was picked to finish number one in the poll with 36 points and six of seven first-place votes.
The Pride opens the 2022 season on Saturday, August 27, at 1 p.m. against Stonehill from Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium, and the CAA opener for Hofstra takes place on Friday, September 30, at home versus Northeastern at 1 p.m.
